Decanter @ Section 17

Hidden together with the other restaurants in a residential area in Section 17, is Decanter. A restaurant that serves Western, Local as well as various beverages including alcohol. I had once saw this restaurant when I was lost while driving around Section 17. Noting to myself that I would come one day, but I forgot as usual.. Just recently, my cousin suggested we should eat there so we went 🙂

This is the ground floor of Decanter. When we walked into the restaurant, it felt like we just walked into a classy dinning hall. The atmosphere was really cozy close to the romantic type. The songs they play are the type of songs you would hear on Lite FM, which is sooo my type xD kinda miss the oldies.. It is also clean in here. A great place for dates, groups or even business meeting. The service is good.

Here are the few dishes that we ordered :

Escargot (RM16)
First, for appetizers, of course it is none other than Escargots. Served naked with rich cream, garlic butter sauce and 3 pieces of garlic bread, it tastes mild but not losing to any other unshelled escargots.

Black Olive Bruschetta (RM6)
For those who ‘dabao’ Subway for me before knows that I don’t eat olives but gawdd I need to say this is good ❤

Smoked Salmon Bruschetta (RM7)
Though you can taste the smoked salmon but it is not too strong and it is perfectly blended with the bell peppers.

Wild  Mushroom Soup (RM10)
Nothing particularly special about this. Tastes average but not bad. Probably because we have had better ones >.<

Grilled Rib Eye Steak (RM50)
Actually taste not bad. Big and thick. Very juicy in the middle. Medium rare is real!! xD

Beef Stroganoff (RM17)
Was curious how it would taste like so I ordered it to try. Not sure if it is what is should taste  like but it tastes good and they are very generous with the portion too 🙂

Memphis Bistro @ Ara Damansara

Ever wondered where to dine in for some special occasion? Love Western Cuisine? Then you have ought to try Memphis Bistro! So here is how I got to know Memphis Bistro, my cousin and I were thinking of what to eat which is not far away from our house since it was jam and plus it was raining.. *ugh* So, I decided to use Foursquare to look up for some good restaurant nearby (you guys should really try to use Foursquare, it’s AWESOME!!! It tells you what is around your current area. It made life so much easier for me when deciding what to eat :P) and tadaaa~ I found Memphis Bistro which is like 5 minutes away from the place I live :3

So, moving on to the review part.. Well, I have to admit, the place is so secluded that I didn’t even know it existed without checking from Foursquare and it is between a few closed shoplots as I remembered. Not sure if they are empty or it’s because it’s already at night. It is advisable to use Waze coming here. Apart from that, the place is cozy and it doesn’t make you feel out of place even though there are quite a lot of people there.

Escargots (Half Dozen) RM23
most of the escargots I’ve eaten elsewhere is often cheese baked but they use garlic butter instead here. to me it’s a new flavour but I’m loving it 🙂

Fresh Forest Mushrooms Soup RM11.50
It is not the most delicious mushroom soup I’ve tasted but it is good and not disappointing. The thickness of the soup is just right and not too watery or thick.

Fresh Us Oysters RM8.80++(per piece)
We ordered half dozen without knowing that it can be ordered by pieces. However, it is worth it because honestly, this is the biggest and most fresh oyster I’ve eaten and it is Rank 1 in my list for fresh oysters ^.^

Rib-Eye Steak Diane RM58
They serve rare Rib-Eye Steak which is also The Perfect Steak state. I would say that they’re skills are real and it is not like some of the restaurants which serves you medium or medium well when you ordered for medium rare. Therefore, I would recommend this 😉

Braised Lamb Shank RM43
Their lamb shank is good but I would say I prefer the one from D’Fortune. But this doesn’t mean it taste bad but just personal preference 🙂

This is their menu :-

P.S. They have  a good reputation therefore sometimes it is too packed so it is recommended to make reservations to avoid disappointments.

EPICURO @ Uptown Damansara

Hey, Guys! I’m back with more good food reviews!! Have you heard of EPICURO before? Have you tried it? If you have not then you ought to give it a try!

This awesome restaurant is located along the same block as Rekindle, behind the famous Village Park Restaurant, facing the LDP Highway. They serve coffee, salads and soup, sandwiches, waffles, pasta, main dishes, sides and snacks, and also desserts. Their price range from RM7 to RM42 however the average ones are around RM20 to RM30. Below is their menu :-

EPICURO more packed during dinner time but it is a nice to chill and eat in the morning and afternoons. I’ve visited it a few times and here are some dishes that I’ve tried.

1st visit – Potato Bacon Salad, Pumpkin Soup (soup of the day), Mixed Mushrooms Bacon Aglio Olio, and Spaghetti Carbonara.

2nd visit – Pork Ragù Marinara.

3rd visit – Crispy Chicken Coleslaw, and Waffle Brunch.

4th visit – Waffles and Ice Cream, and Crispy Chicken.

They all tasted good but I would say that the unforgettable ones are the Pumpkin Soup (soup of the day) and Mixed Mushrooms Bacon Aglio Olio. Their Pumpkin Soup is the best compared to the other places that I’ve tried. Once you put a spoonful of it in your mouth, you can taste that the components of the pumpkin soup is all very well balanced. As for the Mixed Mushrooms Bacon Aglio Olio, the taste is more moderate but it doesn’t loses it’s strength. Overall, they are very generous with the portions they give and the staffs are friendly.

Aoki-Tei @ Sunway Nexis

We were planning to go to somewhere in the KL City for dinner but plans have changed as one of our friends could not make it. Saddened, we decided to eat elsewhere instead of the initial plan, leaving it for next time when all of us can make it. As we wondered around,we decided to come here since this is one of the nearest buffet we can think of at that moment.

If I were to write a review for this last year, it would be a bad one. However, as we went and try it again last week, it has gotten a lot better from the last time we went. The sashimi were actually fresh ❤

We also ordered a few more dishes like :-

Looks good, don’t they? Yumm yumm~
Not to mention, their buffet (RM78++ per person) is inclusive of free flow sake ^.^

They have Ala-Carte with price ranging from RM7-RM200. Therefore I would recommend you to go for the dinner buffet instead as it is more worth it. 😉

Dark & Twisted @ Evolve Concept Mall

This is a newly opened restaurant in the Evolve Concept Mall. It is located right next to the main entrance door. My friends and I checked out this restaurant because it is recommended by one of my other friend. He tried their breakfast menu and said it was delicious and worth the price. It is currently still under promotional price so go try it before it’s too late ! 😉

This is their menu for now as the place is still new. We went during the night so we didn’t get to try their breakfast menu but we ordered from the CARNIVA-YAY menu.

This is the Grilled 1/4 Chicken. It is a little spicy but overall the chicken is big and good but the grilled mushroom is just average.

Baked Salmon Fillet. The skin is baked until it is crispy then drizzled with their signature sauce. The salmon is well done but the portion is not much. It is suitable for those who cannot eat too much at one go.

This is their Signature Beef Burger. They are very generous on their ground beef as you can see from its thickness. The taste is decent. Nothing too special but very worth it for the price. For the ladies that would like to try but you’re not able to eat much, bring your friend or partner along because it is quite big and filling. 😉

We ordered the Creamy Mash Potatoes as add on and we did not regret it 👍🏻 Unlike some mash potatoes that are too soft or watery, their mash potatoes have a great balance for its texture and the potatoes are not completely mashed so you could still feel potato bits.

The environment in the restaurant is quite cozy and comfortable therefore making it a suitable place to hangout.
If you are coming in a big group, don’t worry because there is a long table there for you to hold your gatherings.

The staffs there are friendly however the service is still slow because they have insufficient number of staffs. It’s a good place to visit if you have free time but not when you’re rushing due to the slow service.

Standing Theory @SS2/103

Now you can have not just waffle with ice cream and fruits but bacon too! You can find it nowhere else but at Standing Theory! And this is how it looks like :-

This is their first waffle on the menu. It’s called the BBC Waffle. It’s called their signature waffle as it is made with Standing Theory’s own batter and trust me, it tastes great! It tastes very differently from other waffles. It doesn’t contains too much flour and it’s crispy by itself. Their waffle is my favourite among all other waffles I’ve tasted. The BBC waffle is served with their crispy house-cured bacon, banana slices and cornflakes ice cream by Fat Baby drizzled with gula melaka syrup. Some of you may think it’s going to taste weird but believe it or not, it’s the best combination ever! They have other waffles on the menu too, including another one of their famous ones which is their Fried Chicken & Waffle and I promise you, it will not disappoint you!

I first found out about Standing Theory like one or two years back when I was hunting for ice cream waffles in PJ area. It was close to where I was living (Ken Damansara Condo) so I thought “Hmm.. Let’s give it a shot since it’s special” I mean come on, you can’t find it elsewhere.. I’m a dessert kind of person but I dragged my bestie, whom doesn’t enjoy desserts, there and he was like “Err.. ice cream waffle with bacon? Are you serious?!” I still remember the disgusted expression on his face before he ate it and was like “Oh, ok, I admit it.. It IS good after all” after he ate 😀 And even after a few years, it still tastes great as of today’s visit. Sadly, I visited too early and the chicken dishes are not ready yet so I couldn’t try their Tangy Pumpkin pasta..

Standing Theory is known as the most outstanding new cafes in 2013. It is located at 26, Jalan SS2/103, Petaling Jaya. This area is inside a housing area and is less-packed therefore more parking spaces are available and there is no parking meter so you do not need to worry about always having no parking space and paying the parking tickets and stuff.

It gives off a cozy ambience on the inside which is suitable for chilling with friends or even doing your own work while relaxing there as it is not too noisy unless it is peak hours. They have free wifi there, of course, and the staffs there are friendly too 🙂 There are a few magazines available at the round table as well.

Well, they are a cafe so, of course they are not all about waffles.. They have coffee, tea, and other food as well. The lunch menu as of today is as below :-

As you can see, they have set the prices at an affordable price of nothing over RM20. They sell cakes too but they are not in the menu. The cakes are placed next to the counter in the right side.

For more info, you may check out their Facebook Page, Standing Theory or even follow their Instagram at @standingtheorycafe.

Tips : Do not go on peak hours or near opening and closing hours to enjoy the best experience at Standing Theory.
